Hi everyone.
I hope my question doesn't sound weird or non-sense.
Here in Slovakia guide dogs users are trained to use a dog and a short white cane at the same time. As I have mobility and balance issues I find having a cane with me very useful. On the other hand, I do not have free hand which is not good sometimes.
I also have iphone which I would like to use as navigation tool when walking with my guide dog. The problem is that I use both a cane and a guide dog, so do not have my hands free and that means I cannot use iphone properly to navigate me.
Does anyone know about solution how to carry iphone to be reached when I need to use it?
I was thinking for a while about buying something like small bag going around my neck but I haven't found anything suitable as my iphone has otterbox defender case so it is a bit bulky. I would not be happy to put the otherbox case away.
Carrying iphone in the pocket doesn't sound good for me as well because one never knows what could happen.
I would be very grateful for any kind of advice. Your help will be highly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Maya
Wow, this is a tough one. Here in the states, it's either the cane or the dog. Do you have a purse or a little shoulder bag? You could put your phone in there, and then pull it out when you need to check your location. I don't use my I phone for navigation, so I don't know if you have to leave it out all the time or not. I'll let you know if I come up with anything else. Good luck.

hello there Maya :)
how about carrying your iphone in a small pouch that has a strap that goes over your shoulder down and under your arm at the other side? that, or when using a cane (if using a foldable one) use a fannipack or just a belt around your waste that you can put the cane into whileyou check your iphone for guiding?
all the best of luck :)
i normaily carry my Iphone in my perce. and also i carry my foldable cane too. just in case. i need it.
Is there some sort of small backpack you could attach to your dog to carry the phone and some other lightweight objects you might need? It's too bad you need the cane for balance so cannot have a free hand. I remember when I used to get out a lot more than I do now and used a cane that I hated rainy days because that meant I had my cane in one hand and umbrella in the other. I hated not having a free hand and often did not bother with the umbrella unless it was absolutely pouring really hard.
